Jeanette Nienaber joins SCHC

Jeanette Nienaber, PA-CSeward Community Health Center (SCHC) is pleased to announce that Jeanette Nienaber, a licensed and certified Physician Assistant (PA), has recently joined its staff as a permanent medical provider and member of the community. Jeanette, who started at the Health Center on August 31, is seeing both new and established patients. She will be providing a full range of family medicine and urgent care services as part of her practice. Jeanette comes to the Health Center with a particular interest and training in women’s health care and urgent care.

Ms. Nienaber (pronounced “knee-neighbor”) is joining Dr. Roscoe Van Camp and Dr. Lance Allen, two full-time, board certified family medicine physicians who have been at SCHC since April. These two physicians, together with Ms. Nienaber, will provide the full complement of permanent, primary healthcare providers long-envisioned by the Board of Directors and City Council when the decision was made years ago to start the community health center.

Before starting her career in healthcare, Jeanette was involved in different aspects of animal healthcare and research for 12 years. She previously lived in Seward from 2004-2010, when she worked at the Alaska SeaLife Center. Over time, her desire to have a family while establishing roots in a rural area grew, and she decided to divert her talents to the human medical field.

Jeanette completed her training to become a nationally Certified Physician Assistant at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in September 2013. She was most recently working at a rural critical access hospital in Tracy, MN, where she was splitting her time between family medicine, emergency medicine, and intensive care. Although she will miss her home state of Minnesota and her immediate family, the community of Seward is where she and her partner, Leif, want to raise their two children, Odin and Ruby.
